Role 3: The Geologist

As the geologist for your team, it is your job to gather information about some abiotic factors that affect the biotic factors of your biome. Make sure that you know the difference between abiotic and biotic. You will find the questions that you should be trying to answer on your worksheet. Refer to them often. Your grade will be based on how completely you answer them. The value of these questions is 30 points out of the 60 possible for the individual grade.

Be sure to take notes as you visit the URL's that have been provided for your research. You should read the information contained at each site with your individual role and task in mind. You should also search for similar information in your textbook, the library and the encyclopedias in the classroom.

Besides answering the following questions, you will also need to create two-three Power Point slides for your group presentation. These should include at least one table, map, or graph that helps teach about one of the items that you have researched. (examples: number of volcanic eruptions or earthquakes over the last 20 years, a map showing the locations of volcanoes, mountains, or mineral deposits in your biome) This will account for 20 points out of the 60 individual points.
